At the beginning of my career, I worked as a freelancer through the platform Upwork. This period formed an important foundation for my development as an engineer. By working with international clients on a wide range of challenges, I quickly learned to adapt, take responsibility, and deliver technical solutions that were directly applicable in practice.

From assignment to solution

The projects varied widely in scope and complexity, but they all shared one key expectation: the ability to work independently and deliver clear results. I supported clients with the development of mechanical concepts, the modeling of parts and assemblies, and the preparation of designs for further development or production.

  • Developing CAD models and assemblies based on limited or high-level input.
  • Contributing to structural solutions and improvements within existing designs.
  • Delivering clear design files and technical explanations for next steps.
  • Aligning with clients on expectations, progress, and technical decisions.

Working with international clients

Working through Upwork meant collaborating with clients from different countries, cultures, and time zones. This required clear communication, realistic planning, and a professional approach. In this context, I developed a strong sense for technical communication and learned how to explain complex engineering topics in an accessible way to non-technical stakeholders.

A foundation for my professional career

This freelance period was more than execution-focused work. It required me to make independent decisions, take responsibility for quality, and continuously learn. Many of the skills I later applied in larger organizations and high-tech environments — such as structured workflows, clear documentation, and client-oriented thinking — have their roots in this phase.
